THE GIFT OF TONGUES

INTRODUCTION: What does the bible really say about the gift of tongues? Does the bible state that speaking in tongues is proof of receiving the Holy Spirit? In this article i will show you biblical proof that what the majority of Christians are taught about tongues is indeed false and the tongues most christians think they are speaking may indeed be satanic.

STRONG’S CONCORDANCE: Let us first define the word tongue as it is used in its context in the bible both in the old and new testament.

Short Definition: the tongue, a language, nation
Definition: the tongue, a language, a nation (usually distinguished by their speech).

As you can see from the Strong’s, TONGUE simple means LANGUAGE or a NATION, used to describe a nation’s speech. For instance, Americans speak English and Germans speak German.
1+1=2.. it is that simple. Now let’s take a look at some bible text.

Genesis 10:5 …..’By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.’

Deuteronomy 28:49 …..’The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand.’

Ezra 4:7 …..’And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.’

Daniel 1:4 …..’Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans .’

We can clearly see that tongues in the Old Testament means Language of a nation or a people. Let us proceed to the new testament.

Acts 21:40 …..’And when he had given him licence, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand unto the people. And when there was made a great silence, he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue .’

Revelation 7:9 …..’After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands.’

What happened in Acts chapter two? When the Apostles all received the Holy Spirit? Let us read.

ACTS 2:1-8 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this was noised ABROAD, the multitude came together, and where confounded, because that every man heard them speak IN HIS OWN LANGUAGE. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man IN OUR OWN TONGUE, WHEREIN WE WERE BORN?”

It is clear from this text that tongues is not an unknown “heavenly language” which only God understands. Yet, that is what New Age doctrine teaches today. Christians today are taught to utter gibberish and they think they are speaking in tongues. Tongues is not uttering gibberish which no one understands. The bible never says such a thing. This is a human teaching which stems from misunderstanding and twisting scripture.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TONGUES: When Jesus was alive with his disciples, he instructed them not to preach to anyone who was not a Jew. You can read this in (Matthew 10). HOWEVER, after Jesus died and resurrected, the command changed drastically. Jesus told his disciples almost the exact opposite in (ACTS 1:8). The time had come for the Apostles to preach to everyone whether or not they were Jew. Since Jesus went to his own people and they ended up killing him, Jesus made it then possible for anyone to be saved just by believing in him. This is the new covenant(testament). But how could the Apostles preach to everyone without being able to communicate with them? Good question! This is why Jesus gave them the gift of tongues so that they could preach to the Greek, Parthians, Medes, Elamites, Mesopotamians, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontos and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, In Egypt, Libya about Cyrene and so on… you can read the full list in (Acts 2:9-10) The apostles needed to preach to everyone and the only way to do so was to be able to speak those people’s language or tongue. What good would it have done if God gave them tongues which no human could understand? Jesus had just literally died and resurrected. The good news(Gospel) needed to be spread abroad to anyone who would listen, Jew or Gentile. It no longer mattered. The playing field was leveled after the death and resurrection of Christ because his own people, the Jews, rejected and killed him.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? It is vital that we know the truth about tongues because SATAN Is a Mimic. He copies everything God does, but does the opposite. Satan loves to pervert the ways of God. The bible says, Life and death is in the power of the TONGUE. If you are uttering gibberish thinking you are speaking in some “heavenly language” how are you sure that you are not cursing yourself, your family or condemning your future or praising Lucifer? There are many demon possessed humans who speak in tongues and it is always in an unknown language to man. How do you know who you are talking to or with whom you are communicating? That is why the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 14, do not be too inlove in tongues, but if you desire to have the gift of tongues then ask also for the gift of interpretation because what use is it for you to speak in a language that no one understands? How will people be blessed if they do not know what you are saying? How can you preach to a spanish speaker when you are speaking in a ‘heavenly language?’ Does God really need to give us a specific language to talk to him with? Doesn’t God read our thoughts? Do we really think he needs us speaking gibberish before he answers your prayers? LIES!! all LIES from people who do not read the bible. God does not need us to speak in a “heavenly language” The language we speak right now is heavenly because God himself created all languages during the tower of Babel incident. Before Nimrod’s genius idea which ruined the unity of mankind forever, all humans on earth spoke one language. However, when Nimrod decided to build a tower to reach heaven, God himself came down and confused the people by creating different languages so no one could understand each other. So the languages we speak today are indeed heavenly languages because they came directly from God from since the tower of Babel. Please do not be fooled by Satanic lies which teach that you must speak some nonsensical gibberish to prove that you have the Holy spirit. Those are lies my friends. LIES. BE CAREFUL! Satan is a deceiver!

WHAT IS PROOF OF THE HOLY SPIRIT? So if speaking in tongues is not proof that one is saved, then what is proof? How do we know if we have the Holy Spirit within us? Honestly, the answer is so simple it might offend you. The proof that you are saved and have the Holy Spirit is if you are HOLY!! It is as simple as that. You will know if you are reborn or born again because you will be different.

1. Are your thoughts holy? Then you have the Holy Spirit.
2. Are your actions holy? Then you have the Holy Spirit.
3. Are your intentions holy? Then you have the Holy Spirit.
4. Do you find yourself more sensitive to sinning? Yup, you’ve got the Holy Spirit.
5. Do you follow the teachings of Matthew 5, 6, 7 and 8? If so then you are being led by the Holy Sprit for sure because no one on their own can live according to these teachings, it would be impossible. However, with the Holy Spirit leading you, it is not impossible to follow these teachings.

Having the Holy Spirit is simply being led by Christ. If you speak in tongues and have all the gifts of the Holy Spirit but you do not allow God to be LORD in your life then you are a fraud and your gifts mean nothing. God must come first. Period.
